SlamFrames 3.3 – What's Changed Since 3.1
SlamFrames 3.3 is officially released!
This update builds on the Party and Raid Frame improvements introduced in 3.1, with a focus on new unit-frame functionality, additional customization, visual consistency, and quality-of-life improvements.
The biggest additions are a custom Focus Frame, expanded Pet Frame functionality, and a completely new combo-point tracking system for Rogues and Druids.
Here's a breakdown of what's changed.
1. NEW FOCUS FRAME
SlamFrames now includes a dedicated Focus Frame with custom artwork designed to match the existing unit frames.
Features include:
- Custom Light and Dark artwork
- Independent frame positioning
- Adjustable scale, width, and height
- Configurable health information
- Dedicated settings
- Improved health-bar rendering
- Proper dark backing behind depleted health
Both Light and Dark versions use consistent health-bar filling and depletion behavior.
2. EXPANDED PET FRAME FUNCTIONALITY
The Pet Frame system has received additional development, particularly for players using pet classes.
Improvements include:
- Refined Pet Frame presentation
- Additional customization options
- Pet status indicators
- Additional Hunter pet-related visual feedback
- Light and Dark theme support
- Improved integration with the rest of SlamFrames
These changes make pet information easier to read while maintaining the addon’s existing visual style.
3. NEW ROGUE & DRUID COMBO-POINT SYSTEM
One of the biggest additions in 3.3 is the new custom combo-point tracking system.
There are now two independently configurable combo-point displays.
PLAYER COMBO POINTS
A custom five-socket tracker integrated with the Player Frame.
Features include:
- Five individually illuminated combo points
- Custom Light and Dark artwork
- Normal, Rare/Elite, and Boss-inspired designs
- Adjustable scale
- Horizontal and vertical positioning controls
- Optional hiding outside Cat Form for Druids
The artwork was refined to ensure combo points fill their sockets correctly across the different frame styles.
TARGET COMBO POINTS
An additional five-point tracker attached to the Target portrait.
Features include:
- Custom circular socket artwork
- Independent scale adjustment
- Light and Dark designs
- Optional ON/OFF control
- Proper attachment to the custom Target Frame
This also replaces the original Blizzard combo-point display, which could previously appear detached from SlamFrames.
Both combo-point systems support previewing through Test Frames on Rogues and Druids.
4. LIGHT & DARK ARTWORK REFINEMENTS
A significant amount of work went into improving visual consistency between the two themes.
Changes include:
- Improved combo-point socket sizing
- Corrected active combo-point alignment
- Consistent combo-point geometry across supported artwork modes
- Refined Dark theme accent brightness
- Improved Light theme combo-point fills
- Matching Focus health-bar behavior across themes
- Additional frame and UI refinements
The goal was to preserve the distinct appearance of each theme while making their functionality and positioning consistent.
5. IMPROVED CAST BAR INTERACTION TEXT
SlamFrames now handles more of the unusual cast descriptions produced by the Vanilla client.
Previously, certain quest objectives or world interactions could display unnecessarily long descriptions involving the player's current target.
For example:
can now display simply as:
Generic quest and world-object interactions can display:
This prevents unrelated target names and unnecessary flavor text from appearing in the Cast Bar.
The existing Classic and Ornate Cast Bar options remain available.
6. CLEAN CLICK-CASTING DEFAULTS
New characters now begin with completely clean click-casting assignments.
Previously, certain characters could inherit a healing spell or another unwanted binding.
The new defaults are:
- Left Click: Normal
- Right Click: Normal
- Middle Click: Normal
- No spells assigned
- No items assigned
- No preset modifier bindings
Existing characters retain their previously configured click-casting assignments.
If you want to reset only your current character's click casting, use:
This does not reset the rest of your SlamFrames settings.
7. SETTINGS & QUALITY-OF-LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
The settings interface has received additional organization and usability improvements.
Changes include:
- Dedicated Focus Frame configuration
- Expanded Pet Frame controls
- New Player and Target combo-point settings
- Independent Target combo-point scaling
- Clear separation of Player and Target combo controls
- More descriptive positioning labels
- Improved Test Frames support for combo points
- Additional layout and visual refinements
These changes make it easier to configure individual frame systems without accidentally adjusting unrelated elements.
8. ADDITIONAL FIXES & STABILITY
Several smaller corrections are included throughout the release.
These include:
- Focus health-bar backing and fill corrections
- Light/Dark geometry consistency
- Combo-point positioning and illumination fixes
- Better handling of old-client interaction text
- Corrected click-casting initialization for new characters
- Additional Vanilla-client compatibility refinements
The Party Frame performance improvements from 3.1 are retained, including selective unit updates, reduced unnecessary rebuilding, and optimized group initialization.

THANK YOU
A lot of the changes in 3.3 came from actual gameplay, trying different classes, and refining how the addon behaves under the limitations of the Vanilla client.
Thank you to everyone who has been testing SlamFrames, reporting problems, and providing feedback.
As always, if you run into an issue, please include your class, screen resolution, artwork mode, and a screenshot or video if possible.
Enjoy 3.3!
