Scholomance Is on Break
Entry I: A Most Fortunate Encounter
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

After weeks of lectures, experiments, and the usual academic routine at Scholomance, I decided that a change of scenery was long overdue. With Hallow’s End approaching, rumors of strange festivities had even reached our gloomy halls. Apparently, the living celebrate this time of year by dressing up as monsters. How curious.

So, I finally left the school behind and set out to investigate these peculiar customs for myself.

I had barely made my way to the nearby graveyard gates when I struck up a conversation with the local flight master. He seemed rather impressed by my Hallow’s End attire and, mistaking my everyday academic robes for a particularly convincing costume, complimented my festive spirit.

As a gesture of seasonal goodwill, he even offered me a complimentary flight to Stormwind!

How fortunate. My field research has not yet begun, and already the living are rewarding my efforts.

Perhaps this Hallow’s End business will prove more interesting than I expected.

Entry II: Blending In
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

My arrival in Stormwind was surprisingly uneventful. I had expected at least a few screams, perhaps some frantic guards, or a general sense of alarm. Instead, I found the city bustling with people dressed as bats, skeletons, and all manner of peculiar creatures.

It seems Hallow’s End is the one time of year when looking like a walking corpse is considered fashionable.

Naturally, I decided to inspect the local decorations. The innkeeper had gone to considerable lengths to display a large carved pumpkin and a rather enthusiastic dancing skeleton. I must admit, the craftsmanship was charming. The skeleton’s movements were somewhat exaggerated, but its joints appeared to be in working order.

I demonstrated my own physique in appreciation. One must respect a well-maintained skeletal structure.

Just as I was beginning to feel perfectly at home among the festivities, a local informed me that if I wished to experience the true spirit of Hallow’s End, I should travel to Duskwood.

A place renowned for its gloomy forests, restless dead, and general lack of sunshine?

At last, someone who understands my interests.

I thanked my informant and set off for Duskwood. My field research was about to become considerably more promising.

Entry III: A Remarkable Specimen
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Duskwood has proven to be the highlight of my little excursion.

Upon arriving in Darkshire, I was greeted by what appears to be a rather impressive abomination named Stitches. While the villagers seemed terribly distressed by his presence, I found myself admiring the craftsmanship.

The sheer size! The stitching! The bold approach to anatomical reconstruction! Whoever assembled this specimen clearly understood that necromancy is as much an art as it is a science.

I must have stood there observing him for quite some time. The locals continued screaming and running about, which made it rather difficult to concentrate, but I suppose one cannot expect everyone to appreciate a good piece of work.

I left Scholomance hoping to learn something new about the living and their Hallow’s End traditions. Instead, I may have found a most inspiring example of practical necromancy.

I shall have to tell my professors about this when the holidays are over.

Perhaps I should bring back some notes. Or a few suggestions for the next anatomy class.
