Hardcore death - Server crash

Hi,
My friend and I have been playing the Together Forever Challenge on the Hardcore server. After getting disconnected from the server, I tried to log back in and was shocked to see that my character has died.
I was actually able to log in for a short moment and saw around 7000 ms ping before the server completely went down.
I understand that it says appeals cannot be submitted for characters below level 20. However, I believe this situation is different because this appears to have been caused by a server-wide crash/disconnect, rather than an actual in-game death.
My friend is still not even sure whether his character died as well, since he hasn't been able to check yet.
Is there any possibility that the admins could look into this situation and potentially revive the affected character(s)? We have already lost around 4 hours of progress because of what seems to have been a server issue, and it would be really disappointing to lose our characters due to a crash rather than something that happened during gameplay.
Could the admins please take this situation into consideration and let us know if anything can be done?
